Nobody sees a flower – really – it is so small it takes time – we haven’t time –and to see takes time, like to have a friend takes time.

Everyone hurries his life on and suffers from a yearning for the future and a weariness of the present. But he who bestows all of his time on his own needs, who plans out every day as if it were his last, neither longs for nor fears the morrow. For what new pleasure is there that any hour can now bring? They are all known, all have been enjoyed to the full. Mistress Fortune may deal out the rest as she likes; his life has already found safety.

On The Shortness of Life

To be successful motivation, communication, and implementation are imperative, but you must work with each player and every team differently. Some players are motivated by a pat on the back. Other players need their pat a little lower and a bit harder. Some players need verbal communication, and others have to see a diagram of the play drawn out on a board. Some players implement best with long, rigorous practices while others need several sessions a day.

If you do follow your bliss you put yourself on a kind of track that has been there all the while, waiting for you, and the life that you ought to be living is the one you are living. When you can see that, you begin to meet people who are in your field of bliss, and they open doors to you. I say, follow your bliss and don’t be afraid, and doors will open where you didn’t know they were going to be.

Great leaders are paradoxical. They catalyze, rather control, the work of their teams. They have an overarching vision for the team but are not autocratic in the realization of this vision. Their eyes are open to whatever results occur--not just planned goals, because serendipity is a great innovator.

Guy Kawasaki

Instead of being more organized or controlling in your approach, allow for serendipity. Happy accidents happen when you look side to side or up, not always forward. Don't stop planning. Rather step out of the tunnel. Put yourself in situations that allow for the unexpected. Life is situationally driven. Learning happens in context. Be ready when opportunities arise. The more space you've cleared in your life for something new, the more right things will happen. More or less.

Marcia Conner

Go to parties. You can’t even start to know what you may find on the envelope of serendipity.

Nassim Nicholas Taleb

Everyone is a genius at least once a year. The real geniuses simply have their bright ideas closer together.

Georg C. Lichtenberg

The guy who invented the first wheel was an idiot. The guy who invented the other three, he was a genius.

Who makes quick use of the moment is a genius of prudence.

Johann Kaspar Lavater

Genius is another word for magic, and the whole point of magic is that it is inexplicable.

Margot Fonteyn

Simplicity is the most difficult thing to secure in this world; it is the last limit of experience and the last effort of genius.

George Sand

Judge the goodness of a book by the energy of the punches it has given you. I believe the greatest characteristic of genius, is, above all, force.

Gustave Flaubert

Genius is an African who dreams up snow.

Vladimir Nabokov

The essence of genius is to know what to overlook.

William James

The intensity with which you impress your subconscious with a picture of your plan directly affects the speed with which the subconscious will go to work to attract the picture's physical counterpart by inspiring you to take the right steps.

Napoleon Hill
